Today John Drury, Les Holm, Jason Mitchell, Garrett Holm, Lars Pedersen, Steve Rima, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle met at the hangar to unload the 56 foot long North American Eagle™ after our week long SEMA adventure.

Well, sometimes things just don’t work they way you plan it!!! This morning the semi wouldn’t start. We put the battery charger on it, jumpered it with extra batteries and all sorts of things. We figured it was just too cold so we plugged the engine block heater in and it still wouldn’t turn over. After about 3 hours of wrestling with it, Kirk Wage the lead mechanic for Walrath Trucking jumped in to help us.
We decided to pull the 75 lb starter out. With galled bolts, impact drivers and heating torch, we finally got it out. Lars found a tap and Jason re-ran the threads. A big help goes out to Kirk’s older brother (by two minutes) Bryan.
We got a new starter (and they aren’t cheap) and installed it. Voilá, it started and man were we happy! By then, the work day was done so we left the truck/trailer at the Walrath yard and called it a day. We will try it all over again next weekend.
