Russ Zanghi stopped in to look after Keith but was put to work wielding tools.  He said he hated coming by just to have lunch.

With the wheels getting a great  inspection grade from cmosXray, Chris Greene and Keith began polishing out corrosion and minor surface pitting; putting the shine back on. The axle fairings were also sanded down and the surfaces smoothed out prior to priming and painting.

Work centered on preparing for the engine removal next weekend.  The front of the car was raised up, compartment doors closed, and the rear running axle suspension was disassembled.  The verticle struts were removed to relieve tension and the axle assembly was backed off and out.  The loading axle took its place for the job of removing the engine next weekend.  If all goes as scheduled, the engine will have a boresight inspection. Our engine mechanics will also be giving an eagle eye look over the 50,000 hp jet propulsion system.  Other needed work will be done inside the rear fuselage.  The interior of the the tail cone will have a thicker coating of Lizard Skin applied to absorb heat from the afterburner.  A general clean up and inspection of interior components in the engine housing area of  the fuselage is on the list.

Chris Greene and Jason Mitchell took a total inventory of the parachutes, equipment, and deployment lines.  He and Ed were arranging for protective sleeves  to be made for the lines; preventing chafing of the lines after chutes are deployed and the lines are dragging across the playa. Ed and John Drury will fly up to Cortland Rope this week. Ed recently  revised the cannister release mechanisms and  they are much more fail safe.

Brandyn briefed Keith and Von on the latest improvements being made to a planned new inner team mail system.  It is in the testing process now.
