Work today took up where we left off last Saturday.  Steve’s data acquisition compartment had his attention as the makeover continued; Les was busy solving the rear brake’s water cooling system;  Ed  and Keith were here, there and everywhere… mainly looking at systems with Steve and overseeing the analysis of the front wheel steering alignment adjustments.  Those adjustments are critical and must be spot on when steering the car down a fast track.  Trial and error is pretty much the only way forward.  Static tests in the hangar are adequate;  real time runnings tests under favorable conditions are best.

Dave Selby and Chris Hughes, on our jet mechanics team, had us rolling the car partially out of the hangar and setting up for an engine spin.  The air hose from the American Valley Aviation M32-60B start cart was hooked up and bellowed the blast of air that spun the car’s turbines and recirculated the system oil.  Dormant engines need that.  Slick.

Ready to spin the 45,500 hp S&S Turbine Services Engine

John Winchester delivered some new low speed parachute deployment lines that he has been making up at home.  Under his supervision, Chris Greene will be packing up some new chutes for furture test runs.

Bend, Not Break depicts a journey from imprisonment to freedom, and from the dogmatic anticapitalism of Mao’s China to the high-stakes, take-no-prisoners world of technology start-ups in the United States. It is a tribute to one woman’s courage in the face of cruelty and a valuable lesson on the enduring power of resilience.
