Team NAE rainy day sign in: Lars Pedersen, Steve Rima, Andrew Luck, Von Armstrong, Britney Freer, Keith Zanghi, Steve Wallace, Les Holm
The team to-do list has been shortened considerably, major items accomplished, and now we find there is time to refine and add new features that will improve operations.
Lars went to work right off this morning, bringing in parts that he fabricated at home and continuing here at the hangar. His idea; fashion a new platform that will better balance and stabilize the 500 lb+ steering box when it is removed from and inserted into its steering compartment. The box is out now, modifications underway. When last removed, it was a chore that obviously needed improvement. The new platform will be ready and able when the box is jacked back up into place.

Another work in process is installing a new load cell on the rear axle that essentially gathers data from newly installed strain gauges and then determines the weight load on the rear wheels; and also senses if and when the rear wheels are off the running surface. Wallace, Rima, and Keith were all over this today. The PCB Piezotronics strain gauges are so accurate that they can measure the deflection of a cup of coffee sitting on the massive rear axle!
Between prowling the work areas with eagle eyes, Crew Chief Les Holm got in some bench time, fabricating a new cover plate for the nose cone bulkhead.
