Checking in for work today: Steve Rima, Lars Pedersen, Von Armstrong, Eric Helpenstell, Keith Zanghi, Rich Pengelley, Steve Wallace, Ed Shadle
The team was happy to see Rich Pengelley back to work this morning. He is the primary operator of the American Valley Aviation M32-60B turbine start cart, the mini beast that gets the S&S Turbine Services LM-1500 spinning and provides electrical power to the jet car during start up. The cart generates its own high volume engine roar and pretty much gets everyone’s attention anywhere in the vicinity. Rich put the cart through two run sessions, checking temperature and power guages and general operating performance. A deficiency with power suppy was evident and some scheduled maintenance is being scheduled.
A couple of friends of the team, David Fiola and Dan Johnson, showed up today with two new air bags that will greatly improve the suspension of the car during trailer transport. The old units have outlived their useful life and David is making a new mount at his shop. David is a close friend of Corey Dawson on the team. They went to work designing a new attachment system that will incorporate the new bags into the existing structure in the trailer.

The data acquisition team of Wallace and Rima were at work running some computer data analysis and considering a new heat reduction device that will keep the on board computer at proper operating temperature. Steve Rima has been working on a replacement for the 5 gallon computer water cooling system. The new unit is much smaller.
Keith took up the paint sprayer and applied the finishing coats to the steering box and components. The main steering parts are getting a work over from Steve Green at his Eagle Machine, Inc in Canada. Once finished, the steering system will all be reassembled back here in our Parkland shop and the box jacked back up into place in the fuselage.
