Team members greeting the North American Eagle™ this morning: Ed Shadle, Candy Shadle and daughter Jaime, Keith Zanghi, Sean Rondestvedt, Rob Martinson, Chris Greene, John Drury, Rich Pengelley, Jon Higley, Omar Chramosta, Von Armstrong and Steve Wallace.  Many of the members took vacation from work to help out today. With half the team with bad backs, everyone pitched in and helped where they could. On a day that did not feature 8000 hp Top Fuel runs it was certainly not one of the fun days to be working on the Eagle. We were given a limited number of tickets during the three days of racing. Only Ed and Keith will be at the event all five days.  Unfortunately many of our team members will not be able to attend…others maybe only one day.  On Monday we will do it again when we load up.  Like Ed says often, the one thing this team does have is tenacity, and together we will one day break the 763 mph world land speed record.  Special thanks to Jaime for taking most of the photos today.  Great job, Jaime!

Bunch of guys standing around with their hands in their pocket!

With the Eagle all loaded and ready for the road, John Drury took the wheel of the semi truck and trailer and other members made up a caravan that departed our Spanaway, WA hangar and headed North to Pacific Raceway in Kent, WA.  Other members arrived individually and all met up at the gate.  At first we looked like a bunch of guys standing around with hands in pockets as we waited for our parking assignment. This is a monster event with hundreds of  trucks, trailers, recreation vehicles, and racing teams converging at the raceway from all over the nation.  It takes a huge effort and a lot of careful planning on the part of the event coordinators to assign spaces for all of the vendor booths, vehicles and equipment.

It appears that Team NAE™ scored well when the “follow-me” guide led us to our location….nice and flat with plenty of room to unload the car and all of its equipment, and to set up our display booth.  Another plus …. we are located right adjacent to a road where passers-by can’t miss us; they will number in the thousands.

Unloading and set-up operations went off without a hitch and the 56 foot long North American Eagle™ is in place and looking good. Our newly modified ramp system (Version 3.0) worked great and everyone decided it would be the final design. Tomorrow will see our scheduled team members dusting her off and preparing our booth for the week end action.  We have about 20 new sponsor decals to apply and hang the many sponsor banners on the fence.  The fun starts on Friday, the 3rd and runs through Sunday, the 5th.  Stay in touch for more updates.
