A good turnout of Team NAE this Saturday work session: Ed Shadle, Lars Pedersen, Steve Rima, Keith Zanghi, Von Armstrong, Les Holm, Eric Helpenstell, Chris Greene, Brandyn Bayes, Sean Rondestvedt, Omar Chramosta, Chris Hughes came with his wife, Linnea.
Lars had a total surprise visit from daughter, Taryn Moran, two grandaughters, Maddison and Kira, and Taryn’s friend Carrie Bodenhammer. They had a 2 hour ride and came bearing pastry gifts in trade for a close up look at the Eagle and some hugs and a tour from Lars.
Others visitors were Keith’s brother, Dave, retired King County Sheriff’s Deputy. Dave served 37 years in that department in a variety of assignments including patrol, motor officer, detective and training. On July 1, 1966 their father brought them to Alan Green Chevrolet in Burien to see Craig Breedlove’s Spirit of America Sonic One. After nearly fifty years of breathing gasoline, alcohol, blendzall, nitromethane and kerosene the two unite with another land speed vehicle.
Some good progress this week. The generator was repaired and reinstalled, with another back up generator tested. The pesky hydraulic leak was taken care of, and the tail cone was put back on. Chris Hughes and Sean spent some under belly time working on those tasks and reconnecting lines and circuits. Ed and Steve Rima were testing the electrical circuits.
Keith, Lars, and Ed worked in the trailer. They replaced the two motors that drive the overhead crane. Still some work needed but the system was operating by late afternoon.
Eric took on the job of repairing the wheel well on the motor home. The two Steve’s were taking it on the last test outing when a tire blow out caused damage to the underside. Keith will put on some finishing touches with metal work.
Chris Greene packed up a parachute and lent a hand when needed and Brandyn talked computers and their files with Ed. All in all, a good day at our Parkland shop.
