NAE™ Project: Update September 9, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: Today, the team held it annual BBQ (even if it was later than in the past years) at the Wallace household. Steve & Libby Wallace were fabulous host and hostess for this year's event with all the fixins and more that is the standard fare at a BBQ here in the United States. Ed Shadle was master of ceremonies as around 30 people - team members and their significant others - heard a review of events which have occurred over the past year and what's ahead for the project. The culmination of the proceedings was the announcement - with the help of Keith Zanghi providing side commentary - of the "Velvet Hammer" award winner; Meeko, our team security specialist. Meeko won this year's award for the mishap which occurred during our El Mirage trip last June where she had difficulty handling the heat in the back seat of Zanghi's rental car. With Doug Schwartz, our team P.R. specialist, working hard at finding a financial sponsor for the project, wheels, rear suspension fairing and an operational canard system on the nose of the car are what the project needs to be able to go for the record attempt. With the upcoming article in Popular Mechanics by Jay Leno, and the airing of a documentary by Discovery Channel U.S. - both scheduled to come out this November - it is our hope that we will finally find a financial backer to complete the project critical items and go for the record a year from this fall. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
