NAE™ Project:
Update

October 27, 2007

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Today the team gathered together again to begin the clean up and unpacking of equipment and materials taken to our recent test session. Present were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Steve Wallace, Tim Finley, John Drury, Dave Selby, and Gino Sanfilipo.

We all opened tubs of equipment and materials, along with tool chest drawers, to blow off with compressed air the dust that was on it all. We then reorganized each item of the project's gear to its proper place. There was dust from the playa's wind storm in EVERYTHING! Everyone agreed that, had we not had the shelter from WRS Cover All Systems, our situation would have been radically worse. Thank you, WRS Cover All, for your wonderful donation to our project; it made a world of difference.

In the latter part of the afternoon the team drove over to the Spanaway Golf Course to sit down and hold a debriefing on what this past test session accomplished, what needed changing, and what we were going to be doing next. Meeting us there were John Winchester, Rex Walter, and Mike Thoe to sit in on the meeting.

Ed started out with an assessment of what the test session accomplished. Over all, he felt, and the team agreed, that the experience was a good one, despite the uncooperativeness of mother nature. One of the team members validated those sentiments by pointing out that some members of the ThrustSSC team, who were present to watch our runs, were very impressed with how well we carried them out despite the adverse conditions.

Next, Ed invited the team into the discussion of various issues which we needed to address in order to create a more efficient operation and improve on our organization for the next time we conduct a test session. Several very helpful items were put out on the table and recorded.

The discussion then transitioned to what the project needed to do over the coming winter months to meet our goal for future test sessions in the spring of next year. Several interesting and promising items were covered. Next year will hopefully bring us closer to our ultimate goal.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
