NAE™ Project:
Update Archives

October 27, 2003

Ladies & Gentlemen:

On Wednesday of this week, several members of the team jumped into the NAE van and headed north on the Olympic Penninsula to visit Magna-Force in Port Angeles, Washington. Along the way, we passed by some incredible structures built by man: The Narrows Bridge, the Bremerton Naval Shipyards, and The U.S. Navy's Trident Nuclear Submarine Base at Bangor.

Like the California Gold Rush or the Alaska Klondike, there's a new city about ready to explode into the history books: Port Angeles Washington - home of LEV X and their amazing Magna-Force Technology. Society will change forever when the science from Magna-Force is revealed to the world. Their products will impact for the better nearly every aspect of human interaction with their environment. LEV X will revolutionize mass transit as we know it and make energy consuming machines suddenly more efficient.

Ed, Jon, Keith and John Drury went to LEV X to see this amazing technology that will help bring the North American Eagle to a safe stop. The same technology that allows a 250k lb. locomotive engine to be moved with only a 40 hp engine will be used to slow the 800 mph NAE.

Jerry Lamb and Troy Sparks gave us a tour of the LEV X Research and Development Labs. Under construction is a 1/2 mile elevated track that will be used to test the LEV X "people mover" of the future. Unlike Germany's magnetic trains that require huge amounts of electrical energy to operate, the LEV X system requires no energy to levitate the cars. If electricity is lost on the German System, a backup set of wheels is required to bring the vehicle to a safe position on the tracks. With the LEV X method, it becomes a non-issue because of the 20,000 year half life of these magnets.

Jerry and Troy went on to show us a magnetic drive motor that will be used to power the elevated vehicles. The principle of magnetics used to propel these cars will be the same technology that the North American Eagle will use to dissipate the kinetic energy in built up in its aluminum wheels.

Preliminary LEV X data shows the NAE's magnetic braking system incorporating four (4) magnets needed to scrub off the energy in each of the aluminum wheels. When construction begins we will bring you pictures of this amazing technology.

In addition to the magnetic braking system, Magna-Force is the provider of the team's Volvo tractor used to pull the North American Eagle Race Car in its trailer. The breaking of the world land speed record is a team effort and without LEV X on the team, our goal would be that much harder.
