NAE™ Project: Update Archive November 13, 1998 Ladies & Gentlemen: The North American Eagle™ Team has been busy working on the fuselage of our Lockheed F-104A-10 Starfighter. It needs quite a bit of cleanup and some skin repair. It sure is an impressive looking beast. This particular F-104 was used at Edwards AFB for development tests of the J-79 jet engine. It spent its entire life there until it was turned over to the bone yard at Davis Monthan AFB. It then went to Mojave Airport and eventually to Belfast, Maine. We purchased it and had it shipped out to the Northwest. Ultimately, it will return to Edwards AFB, this time with a J-79, but maybe running Liquid Propane Gas. It seems kind of strange that this F-104 SN 56-763 would be challenging a record of 763 mph and on the same dry lake bed it lived on from the start.
