NAE™ Project: Update Archive November 13, 1996 Ladies & Gentlemen: Yesterday Project Manager Ed Shadle, Director of Operations Keith Zanghi met with Edwards AFB personnel to discuss the recent Craig Breedlove incident. Facilitating the meeting was Major Bob Wilson. In attendance were representatives from Fire Safety, Runway Maintenance, Base Safety Officer and Parachute Specialist. The meeting lasted over two hours as both sides reviewed the proposed CRDA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement). Several issues were addressed and in the end just a few issues remained. The action items should be completed by the week ending 11/22/96. While at Edwards the team took a tour of the NASA museum. Inside visitors can learn about the history of Dryden Flight Test Center, and purchase souvenirs in the centers gift shop. Across the street, members of the team visited a full scale mock up of the historic X-15 rocket plane. In all, the one day visit to the Edwards AFB facilities was one of the most productive trips taken by the North American Eagle Team. With renewed spirit, the team walked away with the pride of our great nation, and the anticipation of 1997, when the Air Force celebrates its 50th anniversary, and the North American Eagle breaks the 700 mph barrier. The new team slogan: 700 in '97. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
