NAE™ Project: Update May 27, 2009 Ladies & Gentlemen: Yesterday Jon Higley, Crew Lead/Webmaster, presented at Forks Middle School on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State to three different classes of 6th & 8th grade students. Thanks to the invitation of Mr. Martin Dillon, Technology teacher at the school, Jon shared with the students of his classes about the science & technology which the NAE project is using and incorporating to achieve its goal of bringing the world land speed record to North America again. Students were provided with notes to gather information and ask questions with, as well as a demonstration of the magnet on an aluminum plate to feel how it generates a resistance flux when the magnet is moved near the plate. Students viewed a combination of PowerPoint slides of and video clips which explained the challenges which had to, and are being, overcome through the application of knowledge from science and innovative technologies to make the attempt as safe as possible. Should you be interested in having a presentation like this for your classroom, business/civic organization, or society, we encourage you to contact us through the "Appearances" page on this site. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
