NAE™ Project:
Update Archive

May 19, 2002

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Russ at work
Bill at work
Ed at work
Keith at work

Today Ed, Keith, Jon, Russ and Bill were present to continue progress on finishing touches to the vehicle in preparation for painting next month. Ed worked on fitting, trimming and dirlling holes for the belly section where the nose cone joins to the cockpit while Russ completed riveting and placing screws into the panel which seperates the front wheel well from the gun bay area. Keith & Jon worked on creating a cover panel for a couple of holes just forward of the verticle stabilizer, trimmed the edges of both speed brake doors and looked at the RAT door to explore possibilities of fixing it securely shut. Bill continued the slow, but steady work of reattaching the "spaghetti" looking collection of engine tubing and bleed air ducting.

The front wheels' axle assembly has now been completed by Steve Green and the box liner it is in has been returned to Ed & the team. It will be reinstalled by next weekend.

At this point, it appears we will be moving the NAE in its trailer over to Bates Technical College to deliver it into the south campus' painting facility on May 30th.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
