NAE™ Project: Update Archive May 1, 2001 Ladies & Gentlemen: The North American Eagle™ Team took the weekend off from cut knuckles and sore arms and headed east to Wenatchee WA to speak to the Washington Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. Ed Shadle and Keith Zanghi gave their one hour presentation "Challenging the World Land Speed Record" to a packed house of CAP Cadets and Seniors. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Russell Garlow and DiDi Boyington.
This years Washington Wing Conference was held at the Red Lion Hotel. 2001 is the 60th Anniversary of the CAP. The organization has three mission elements - Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education and Emergency Services. Never before has the NAE Team presented to a finer group of young adults. It is refreshing to speak to young Men and Women who answer with "Yes Sir." The CAP is an Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Just like scouting, the CAP prepares our young adults of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. The conference started off with an awards presentation. Recognitions for high morals, hard work and valor were given to Cadets and Seniors from all over the State of Washington. The conference had special meaning for NAE Project Manager Ed Shadle. First it was a reunion of sorts as Ed traveled through the town where he grew up as a kid. Second, Ed was a founding member of the Parkland CAP Squadron back in the late 50's. The experience motivated Ed to enlist and serve his country well in the United States Air Force.
As with all of our presentations, it allows the team to network with the "movers and shakers." This weekend was no exception as we picked up two GIANT venues for our traveling road show. As soon as the details are completed we'll let you know. El Mirage is this weekend, so some of the team will be headed south for this year's opener. If you live in the Southern California area, you might head north of Los Angeles and catch a glimpse of some high speed dry lakes type landspeed vehicles. Thats it for now. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
