NAE™ Project:
Update

March 29, 2008

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Today's work party was attended by Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Bill Eckberg, Steve Wallace, Tim Finley, Eric Helpenstell, Von Armstrong, John Zambrano, Dave Selby, Gino Sanfilipo, John Winchester, and Omar Chramosta. Our slate today was full.

Tail cone comes off
Engine is pulled back

First order of business was to unload the "beast" from the trailer. Once in the hangar, the guys set about removing the tail cone from the engine.

Finley is pulled out of the intake

After setting the tail cone on a cradle, the engine gantry was placed over the engine and it was pulled out just far enough to have room to remove the old generator. Another generator on hand was then put into place by John Zambrano and Dave Selby, with the help of Tim Finley. Climbing into the intake access door to reach in, Tim was able to provide the extra support to hold up the very heavy generator and get it into place.

Loading the "beast" back into the trailer

Steve and Tim then began installing completely new wiring for the old and deteriorating wire bundle that needed replacing. With the day quickly getting late, it was decided to finish the wiring later while in the trailer.

The engine was pushed back in place, pins bolted down and the tail cone put back on. The team then proceeded to load the car back into the trailer so that we can conduct yet another engine run next weekend in order to verify that our voltage regulator is working properly.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
