NAE™ Project: Update March 2, 2008 Ladies & Gentlemen: Today several team members showed up at the hangar to do several small tasks needing to be done. Present were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Von Armstrong, Tim Finley, Rich Pengelley, Bill Eckberg, Sean Rondestvedt, Omar Chramosta, John Winchester and Gino Sanfillipo. The main tasks of the day were centering the steering stick of the cockpit and continued construction and assembly of the high speed parachute cannisters. Rich and Sean were busy building a spring assembly which will return the stick Ed uses to move the front wheel right or left of center to its center position if he's not holding onto it. As they were doing that, Ed and Keith bled the steering hydraulics and adjusted the sensitivity. At the same time, Gino and John were placing a hinge on the flap door of one of the high speed chute cannisters. Tim Finley did final checks on the generator to voltage regulator circuits. Bill and Ed charged the front suspension cylinder and Bill cleaned out a plugged fuel transfer valve in the start cart. Don Mitchell, our newest team member who is working on CFD analysis, stopped by to get caught up on information regarding his work from Ed and Keith. Meanwhile, Jon left for Seattle to take in the Hot Rod Show at the Qwest Convention Center. While Gibbons of ZZ Top fame was a no-show, Jon did get his picture taken with Sara Underwood; Playboy's Playmate of the Year, and gave her a signed poster of the NAE™. Jon also got autographed pictures for Ed & Keith of her. We are going through final checks before loading the Eagle to take it to a location for an engine test, later this month. We'll be conducting an engine test with the car cabled to some D-8 Cats to keep it in place when we light the afterburner and make sure everything's working as expected. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
