NAE™ Project: Update March 3, 2007 Ladies & Gentlemen: Today Tim Finley, Scott Robertson, Bernard McVay, Von Armstrong, Libby and Steve Wallace, Keith Zanghi, Ed Shadle, Omar Chramosta, Rich and Tom Pengelley, Meeko and John Winchester met at the Schenck Ranch for another Saturday work party. Special guests this weekend were an auto club that John Winchester belongs to, the Model A Club. The little hangar looked like a shoe sale at Nordstrom as Keith and Ed gave their canned pitch about the project. The group stayed around for about an hour and everyone in attendance was thoroughly impressed. Earlier in the week Western Washington Residents watched the North American Eagle™ project on television. KBTC the local PBS station featured the team as part of their Full Focus Television Show. On Thursday Bernard came down to the hanger and installed a brand new mobilizer for the front wheel location. The new tool will give the team the capability to move the car around the hangar when the steering box is removed. Bernard also finished the rear travel axle and Von and Keith assisted in re-installing it onto the car. The effort made it considerably safer with the acquisition of a new 20 ton jack. The $250 jack was picked up off of Ebay with the help of Steve Green at Eagle Machine, Inc. Scott Robertson installed a brand new hydraulic return line. In the last few weeks we built a hydraulic temperature sending unit, and the new line now completes that task. Great news this week with regards to sponsors. Thor Holden of Signs by Tomorrow moved his operations to Houston last summer. He is now not only a sponsor, but will become a team member specializing in the enhancement of public relations images through his impressive graphic design operation. Thor will be one of our first team members to work "virtual" and still be a big part of the project. We welcome Thor and his family back. Steve and Libby Wallace worked on some of the Modal Shop and PCB Piezotronics, Inc systems. Steve is also completing the design of our canard control mechanism. Next week will be a busy one with the removal of the rear tail body section. The team will have Olympus Industrial onsite to provide some borescope capabilities utilizing their iPlex Borescopes. Also planned next week will be FARO Technologies who will be bringing by one of their FaroArms. They will be digitizing the front steering box, swing arm and axle assembly. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
