NAE™ Project: Update March 18, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: Have you visited our NAE™ Gear store yet? If not, we recommend you check it out for the great items we have to offer to help support our project. Today's work party had Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Ed Drumheller II, Bernard McVay, Dennis McVay, Patricia Wood, Sparky, Steve & Libby Wallace, Sean RondestveDt, Tim Finley, Meeko, Earl Gratzer, and Von Armstrong present. It was as though it was Christmas all over again in the hangar today when Ed Shadle opened a box which arrived the other day from Europe. The box contained a four foot model of an F-104G that was provided by our sponsor PCB Piezotronics, Inc. It will be modified to look like the NAE™ for display at the SAE conference scheduled for early next month, as well as other presentations to come. Drumheller gained a new team member to help him with the visit of Norma Reid and her significant other, Randy Peterson today. Norma will be working on sewing and repairing parachutes for the NAE™. The hydraulic chute packer was put to use today, but it was found some modifications are in order for it to be used efficiently. Steve Wallace and Tim Finley worked together today to solve some nagging electrical issues. Steve was pleased to have received some needed sensors to place in the car. Keith worked on fabricating the bracket that will hold the instruments that will help Shadle steer the rear with the magnetic brakes. Meanwhile, Jon, Ed, and Dennis began the process of fabricating a mounting plate on which a secondary hydraulic controller block will be placed in the rear hydraulics bay. Note the fine new ladder donated by Sean to the project. We don't see sturdy, high quality equipment too often on this project. Bernard worked on refitting the rear axle dolly that allows the team to jack the rear up and move the whole car on tracks. Patricia was working on getting the printer working on the hangar computer. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
