NAE™ Project:
Update

March 18, 2000

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Work continues as we head into another weekend. A lot of progress was made last week. Starting from the back, brand new speed brakes were installed and fitted to 56-763.  Then we mounted all four main landing gear doors. The front driver compartment was gutted and cleaned up.  The damage forward bulkhead was also removed.

This weekend we will finish the bulkhead and fit the skin panels on the right hand side of the driver compartment. We will also mount the rear, center and forward canopies.  For those in our reading audience that think we took a perfectly good Mach 2 fighter and turned it into a landspeed car, nothing could be further from the truth. 56-763 was heavily damage and could never be flown again. Large sections of the exterior skin had been punctured and covered with layers of graffiti over the entire surface. Some to "de-militarize" and others for the sake of malicious mischief.  In any event, the team has been replacing these damage sections. We think you will be pleased with the results. There is a lot of work to get done before the end of the month when the Eagle heads to the paint shop.

In the upcoming week Ed and I will be fine tuning our one hour presentation "Challenging the World Land Speed Record™ "  We will show it in two weeks at The American Chemical Society National Convention in San Francisco.  This years show will be held in the Moscone Convention Center, Hall E, Room 134.  The Industry Pavilion will include a lineup of more than 30 speakers on topics related to industrial trends, cutting-edge technology, and personal and professional development. This will be the third national convention for ACS that Ed and I have done. The previous two were in Dallas and Boston. This event will be even more exciting. Ed arranged to have Jack Costella's streamliner to be on display. It would have been nice to bring the Eagle down, but we are still a month away from presenting it to the public.

Special thanks again to one of our sponsors, Phil Morris at Morris Motorsports Printing for supplying us our new business cards.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
