NAE™ Project: Update Archive For images of this, and other days at Burbank, please go to our Photo Gallery. June 9, 2006 Ladies and Gentlemen On Friday, John Drury weaved his way past the 12,000 BMWs, 14,000 Mercedes and one Chevy Malibu parked along the streets of Burbank on his way to our next public appearance. Autobooks located on Magnolia Blvd, just East of Hollywood Blvd. is home to the largest collection of aviation and automotive books in the world. The store manager Doug Stokes made arrangements with the City of Burbank to shut down the entire parking strip for one city block where the Eagle could be unloaded. It was going to be a great show with the Eagle right smack-dab in the middle of the entertainment industry. When we arrived we knew we were in trouble. What we didn’t think about was the natural slope of the road to facilitate the water drain off. The slight angle would have been too dangerous to unload the car safely. A alternative solution had to be found. Immediately, Doug got a hold of the Burbank Police which responded in a matter of minutes and helped us set up in the back of the bookstore. Burbank Police redirected traffic for a few minutes so John could back the 65 foot long NorWest Trucking / LevX sponsored tractor down the back alleys. Without their help, we don’t know what we would have done. With half the crew already on the road headed home, the remaining team members consisting of Rich and Tom Pellengelli, Cam, Alex, and Rachel Shadle, Tim Finley, Bernard McVay, Jon Higley, John Drury, Steve and Libby Wallace, Doug Schwartz, Keith Zanghi, Ed and Elaine Shadle were on hand to unload the Eagle under the watchful eye of Meeko "the Moocher". Throughout the day high performance and restored automobiles came by. At one time we thought there was a parade in the area. A big credit goes out to Doug Stokes who had been advertising the event for many weeks. Team members and fans were treated to the plethora of muscle cars, Ferraris, Cobras and other exotic automobiles as they cruised on by and stopped to meet the team and see the car. Special Thanks We would like to thank the B&I Marketplace in Tacoma WA that help make this trip possible. We would also like to thank NorWest Trucking who helped us get to California and back. North American Eagle™ fuel was supplied by Seattle BioDiesel which we mixed with Kerosene provided by Small & Sons Oil Distributing in Auburn WA.
