NAE™ Project:
Update Archive

June 18, 2002

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Paul Stoll working on formula charts.
John Anderson at test stands.

On Tuesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 13th Bill Eckberg, team NAE's™ jet engine mechanic and paint consultant, was invited to attend a training workshop at PPG's Kent, WA Training Center where they experimented, tested and finalized formulas for colors which will be used on the NAE. Buddy James, PPG consultant to the NAE paint project made it possible for Bill to sit in on the workshop and consult with Mr. Stoll & Anderson to incorporate the glow-in-the-dark colors which will be in the eagle's beak orange and head/tail feather white. Bill has remarked how fascinating the process was and how helpful and cooperative Paul & John were in the workshops. Team NAE is proud to be sponsored by & working with PPG Industries, Inc. and Buddy James, their representative.

Students at Bates Technical College near completion of "prep" phase.

The Bates Technical College South Campus paint facility students, under supervision of Bill Byrns, have been working diligently for the past two weeks to sand the aluminum skin and bondo dimpled areas in preparation for painting the end of this week. Team NAE is delighted with this "win-win-win" relationship; an opportunity for students to get experience doing a larger than usual project and NAE™ getting a unique paint job with the wonderful help of PPG.
