NAE™ Project: Update Archive July 4, 1997 Ladies & Gentlemen: America celebrates its 221st birthday today by lighting off fireworks, eating lots of food, watching a parade, and visiting friends. Many Americans are glued to their television sets today, as The Mars Pathfinder Mission sends photos back from the Red Planet. The North American Eagle™ (NAE) takes a weekend off too, while the team performs some preventative maintenance as we prepare for next weekends test. This past weekend at our Toledo Washington site, the team had a very successful test session. The goal was to perform afterburner test. Three runs were made, with the final run ending with a successful operation of the J-79 burner assembly. Now some even greater news. The NAE™ team is happy to announce the participation of Small & Sons Oil Distribiting Company as a new sponsor. Small and Sons is providing the team with some of there fine UNOCAL 76 Jet Fuel for the thirsty 48,000 horsepower J-79 Turbojet. The team went through several 55 gallon drums this past weekend and the addition of Small & Sons brings us much closer to our goal. The next test session will be July 12 and 13th. Steve Green will be coming down Canada to review modifications and engineering for our all high speed aluminum wheels. So we have a busy week ahead of us. Look for next week's update. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
