NAE™ Project: Update Archives January 4, 2003 Ladies & Gentlemen: Today's work party had four of the team present. Ed, Jon, Bill and Russell showed up to continue work on "the beast". Ed continued constructing a custom fuel filler port for the fuel tank between the intakes, about the mid-point of the backbone between nose and tail; using a sheet of plexiglass as a template for positioning it. Jon helped assist both Ed on the fuel filler assembly and/or Russell on riveting or screwing on cover plates over a couple of holes in the bulk-head behind the ejection seat. Meanwhile, Bill managed to reconnect a repaired crossover tube on the mid-section belly of the engine. He reports that the engine is basically ready to take to a test cell for test firing after an internal checkof all sections is performed on it. This great news means we're making progress and pretty much on our projected time line for this winter's tasks. Now, if we can just get our hands on a boroscope to perform the internal check. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
