NAE™ Project: Update Archives February 11, 1997 Ladies & Gentlemen: Well just one day away from the grand opening of the 1997 Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto Canada. The North American Eagle™ (NAE) World Tour has been running smoothly, except for the cold weather. For the last two weeks the NAE™ has been parked in freezing temperatures. Ed Shadle yesterday pulled the 40 foot long car out of the trailer to test fire the 48,000 hp GE J-79 turbojet engine. Fighting numb fingers in freezing weather, the engine and its systems checked out. In search of warmer surroundings the team found the right person. Enter Dave Damon, airport manager for Toronto Airways. Dave and his crew provided the relief the team needed. About twenty miles from town is Buttonville Airport in Markham Ontario. Yesterday, Ed Shadle worked on the J-79 in a warm and well stocked (tools) hangar. As if this wasn't enough, Dave is lending the use of a ground power unit for the team to use. The NAE™ Team meets thousands of people throughout our travels. It never seems to end the generosity of both countries (US and Canada). French writer Jean de La Bruyere summed it up best when he wrote: "Generosity lies less in giving much than in giving at the right moment." Dave Damon and Toronto Airways did indeed come at the right moment. Thank You Toronto Airways! We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
