NAE™ Project:
Update

February 9, 2008

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Today Rich Pengelley, Sean Rondestvedt, Steve Root, Steve Wallace, Tim Finley, Von Armstrong, Eric Helpenstell, John Winchester, Keith Zanghi, and Ed Shadle met at the hangar to work on the North American Eagle™.

Ed and John worked on parachute systems.  Sean organized our standards (nuts, bolts, rivets) bin.  Over the years everything kind of got “mixed up”, so Sean standardized the storage rack and now everything is where it should be.

Rich, Rob and Sean cleaned up all of our David Clark headsets.  Following the dust storms at Black Rock, everything was covered with fine dust.  The guys cleaned, sanitized and checked all the equipment, then bagged them in preparation for our next test session.  David Clark headsets are used by our vehicle start up team.  David Clark is the recognized leader of critical communications equipment and we are proud to have them on the team.

Tim vacuums up dust

Tim, Sean, Von and Keith built a replacement panel for the bottom of the car. The original Lockheed F-104 panel had louvers installed that were used when the oxygen system vented.  The compartment filled up with about 5 inches of Black Rock dirt seeping in through the louvers.  The new replacement panel should eliminate this problem.  Next we will finish off the remaining panel located just aft of this one.

Finally, Keith and Tim made some sketches for some safety and tooling decals needed for the Eagle.  We’ll send the designs down to Signs By Tomorrow in Houston and apply the real ones in a few short weeks.  Thor and Lisa at Signs By Tomorrow Houston North can make any kind of sign, decal, poster, or banner.  Just send them an email for a quote.  They can ship anywhere in the world.

Next weekend, if you live in the Seattle / Tacoma area stop by the Puyallup Fairgrounds and say hello to Ed Shadle and Jon Higley who will be staffing the NAE™ booth.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
