NAE™ Project:
Update

February 17, 2007

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today John Drury, Tim Finley, Steve & Libby Wallace, Von Armstrong, John Winchester, John Zambrano, Rob Martinson,  Dave Selby, Bill Eckberg, Omar Chramosta, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle convened at the little hangar in Spanaway, WA, and made progress towards our goal to break the world land speed record.

e

John Drury spent most of the day working on the Caveman Coffee crew bus.  Afterwards, Keith took the controls and gave the entire team present a test ride around the block.  It was deemed a success because no bystanders or mail boxes were run over!  In the next few months Sam Yellowbird will be repainting the vehicle in NAE™ Red.  The bus will be used to transport team members to the test sessions and to provide a clean area for computer and video post production while on site.

b

John Zambrano, Dave and Bill worked on the hydraulic system.  When done with that, the team, along with Ed and Omar, started dismantling the forward steering box.  Our bi-metal titanium / aluminum wheel needs to fit in the original housing and a few modifications need to be made first.

d f

John Winchester packed one of our Aerial Machine and Tool high speed parachute.  The information was used to analyze the housings for the ballistic parachute system.

a c

Von and Rob cleaned up the cut-away jet engine.  After sitting over the winter the display was in bad need of a cleanup.  Next week we will have a small display at the Washington Aviation Conference at the Western Washington State Fair Grounds in Puyallup, WA next weekend. Stop by and see members of the team and our cut-away jet engine.

g

Steve worked on a number of PCB Piezotronics accelerometers and assorted wiring.  Tim tidied up some wiring for oil temperature gauges.

Doug Schwartz at Sterling CI has been developing our new logo.  You will see that more in the future.  Copies have been sent to Amy at Bayside Embroidery who will be incorporating the design in all of our new NAE Gear.  Look here in a few weeks for an updated Gear Page.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
