NAE™ Project:
Update

February 10, 2007

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Today, Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Bernard McVay, Steve Wallace, Von Armstrong, Omar Chramosta, John Winchester, and Tom Pengelley were present at this weekend's work party.

Our visitor today was Roger Durran, brother-in-law of John Drury. He was given the tour and history of the project by Keith, Ed, and John.

Steve Wallace was busy under the NAE™ today installing wires and sensors on the mid-wheel hubs. Meanwhile, Jon Higley was busy washing down and rinsing out the front wheel box of El Mirage dust, mud and grease to prepare it for transport north to Eagle Machine, Inc. where it will be used as a template for building a new one to accommodate the all aluminum/titanium wheels. John Winchester, our new parachute specialist, packed one of our balistic (high-speed)chutes into a bag to see how it fit; plenty of room, but some work will need to be done on the bag for a more snug fit.

After a while at the shop, most of the team went over to Spanaway Airport where the the bus is parked to work on the rear bumper. Bernard used his McVay's Mobile Welding truck to remove the bumper, then mount a trailer hitch donated by John Drury. This will allow for hauling of the box trailer full of equipment behind the bus. Bernard will also be building another stair-step, like he built for the rear of the trailer, for the bus so team members can enter and exit easily through the rear door.

Omar had removed and obtained a replacement hose for the bus engine's fuel line, but upon starting to screw it back in, realized the threads may not match, so he'll remove the nut from the engine block to double check the threading for the new line before installing it.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
