NAE™ Project:
Update Archives

August 13, 1999

Ladies and Gentlemen:

After several weeks of burning the midnight oil and enduring bloody knuckles Ed and Cam Shadle head off to the 51st annual edition of Speedweek held at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Preparing the 828 Lakester for this years event included a new powerplant. Following the grenading of the flathead at Muroc, Steve Green has loaned Ed a small block Chevrolet prepared by Nickens Racing. The new engine should power the lakester into the 220 MPH range with a little luck. Meanwhile back in San Jose, Bud Jones is putting together yet another Flathead Ford. Bud will travel to Bonneville to meet Ed and the boys for Speedweek.

In regards to the North American Eagle™ project, the team has taken delivery of a large mobile shelter. The 30 by 60 tent will be invaluable when the team takes to Rogers Dry Lakebed next year when test runs commence. Steve Green continues to work in Abbottsford on the rear suspension for the new car. Following heat treating, the parts will be assembled. It is a slow process, a metamorphosis from flying machine to land machine as it transformation from Mach 2 aircraft to Mach 1 LSR continues.

The team continues to accumulate the necessary parts. The inventory spare parts continues to grow. Nothing can stop us now! Look for Ed’s update when he returns from Bonneville next week.
