NAE™ Project: Update August 25, 2007 Ladies & Gentlemen: At today's work party were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Tim Finley & Meeko, Von Armstrong, Rich Pengelley, John Drury, Omar Chramosta, Scott Robertson, Bill Eckberg and John Winchester who visited briefly with family. Special guest this week was Bob Birch and his son Robert. Bob works with Keith and wanted to bring his son to see the Eagle for his birthday. Today's focus was on getting the new valve assembly installed into the front wheel box. Keith, John and Tim all worked on it all day. Unfortunately, after tightening down the bolts which hold it in place on the wall of the box, the slider did not move freely back and forth. So, Ed will be taking valve assembly to our local consultants to help us figure out how to remedy this problem. Meanwhile, Jon, Rich and Von worked on removing the batteries, and the plate they sat on, from the area behind the electronics section which is just behind the cockpit. They also removed the front and rear walls which had been installed a few years ago. All of this removal was to make room for a new Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) from our new sponsor, Falcon® Electric, Inc. The UPS will be an integral part to protect our PCB Piezotronics data acquisition system when the car switches from external power provided by the American Valley Aviation M32-60B start cart and the internal power generated by the S&S Turbine Services Ltd turbo-jet engine. Steve Wallace will be installing the new equipment next weekend. Falcon® Electric, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of award-winning UPS systems, frequency converters and ac voltage regulators. Ed then fabriacted a new aluminum plate for the batteries and UPS unit to be on. The completion of this will be a job for next week's work party. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
