NAE™ Project: Update August 19, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: While Ed Shadle and Steve Green were arriving home from Speed Week at Bonneville, a few members of the team showed up at the hangar to continue work on the NAE™. Present were Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Tim Finley, Meeko, Ed Drumheller II, and Earl Gratzer. Marty Schenck also hung around with the team after having returned from a trip in his RV. He was amused to find someone had taped a plastic set of sidewinder missles from a model F-104 set to the under side of his Cessna 150 wing on the pilot's side as a joke. Today's main task was Tim Finley's. He picked up where he left off last week of connecting the voltage regulator to the engine generator. Keith helped Tim by drilling out two holes in the upper plate of the circuit bay to allow for airflow for cooling of the voltage regulator. At the same time, Ed Drumheller II continued work on the high speed chute bag he began last week. Meeko, vigilant as ever, did the hard work of guarding the facility. Keith Zanghi went over to Ed Shadle's house to pick up the copy of Maxim Magazine's German edition that has an article about our March 2005 test session in Washington state with great pictures by Cornelius Braun. After the work party ended, some of the team made their way to Spencer Aircraft's annual BBQ held at their Thunn Field facility. Ed Shadle and his wife, Elaine (left), are shown above with Mark (center), the owner. Being around food, Meeko perked up significantly at this event. Next weekend the team will put the NAE™ on display at the LeMay Car Museum's Marymount Academy in Spanaway. Locals interested in a chance to view the car up close and personal, as well as a chance to meet and shake hands with the driver and team are encouraged to make their way next Saturday. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
