NAE™ Project: Update August 5, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: While Ed Shadle spent most of his time over at his house working on his roadster for Speed Week coming up, Jon Higley, Bill Eckberg, Tim Finley, Steve & Libby Wallace, Ed Drumheller II, Von Armstrong, and Earl Gratzer were on hand today to help with getting more work on the car done. Bill Eckberg successfully installed a grounding plate onto the airframe inside the engine bay and connected the proper wires to it. This work, as well as the electrical, was done inside the LevX/NorWest travel trailer where the car remains for now. Ed Drumheller II completed the first high speed chute bag today. The yellow material on the outside of the bag indicates the high speed chutes. This is the first of several Ed will make for use on the car once we begin running beyond 400 mph. Von Armstrong went to work on removing old release pin cones on the low speed chute cans so less tall cones could be put on them to make the release process more dependable. Steve Wallace and Tim Finley spent the day working on two things; correcting some voltage impedence issues with the invertor, and preparing the voltage regulator for installation into the circuit bay underneath the electronics bay of the car. More specifically, Steve refurbished the 12-volt power system (used for the network) and the data aquisition power source to use more efficient batteries. He also installed a fresh-air intake fan to provide positive pressurization to the electrical compartments. In an effort to locate some proper material to use with the voltage regulator, they had to conduct a "burn test" on various items to determine suitability. Jon Higley and Earl Gratzer cleaned up around the hangar and made runs after parts needed for the work being done. The NAE™ has accepted an invititation to the LeMay Car Museum Show to be held on August 27th at the Marymount Academy grounds in Spanaway, WA.
