NAE™ Project:
Update

April 12, 2008

Ladies & Genltemen:

This weeks work party included Bernard McVay, Tim Finley and Meeko the dog, Eric Helpenstell, Rich & Tom Pengelley, Slim Lawson, John Drury and his son Andrew. In addition Bob Brower from the PBR boat restoration group and Ramine from McVay Mobile welding came out to help unload, wash and shine the Eagle for this day's scheduled NW Lotus Club visit and tour.

Bernard talks to the club

Bernard was the tour master of the day while the other teammates Fielded questions throughout the visiting crowd. An explanation of the workings of a turbine engine using our display engine, the magnetic brakes with a hands on demonstration of the basic theory and of course the car itself.

Here is a report from the President of the NW Lotus about their visit:

Hello Ed,

The club was very impressed with Bernard and the crew. Quite a show for us. We went away feeling that we had seen and heard more than expected. And with 75 degree top-down driving weather on Saturday, what more could we have asked for!

Well, it would have been nice to meet the driver and other head honchos, but it wasn't meant to be that day.

Our photographer did a great job of photo documenting the visit, and the pictures have become a permanent part of our website. If you have time, please check them out in the photo section! The event has been mentioned in past newsletters, and a full descriptive article will be written up in the next.

Ed Shadle, Steve Wallace and Keith Zanghi hopped on a plane this morning to Ypsilanti, Michigan to attend the INCAT North American PLM Summit. The three will present the one hour presentation "Challenging the World Land Speed Record". Look for an update and photos this coming week. INCAT provides engineering technical help and coordinates Dassault Systemes, FARO Technologies and Verisurf Software activities.

Also, earlier in the week, Ed sent our 3 foot model built by Russ Garlow (with help from his dad) to Olympus Industrial. They will put the model in their booth at the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) conference booth in Detroit. Those attending the show can see the miniture replica and a 10 minute video on the project. Bob Roundhare and Kathleen Forrester will be sending photos and an update of the show and we'll get it posted to the web later in the week. Olympus Industrial provides technical support including crack detection with their NDT Phase Array Eddy Current Instruments, Bore Scopes and their iSPEED HG high speed video for parachute deployment analysis.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
