NAE™ Project: Update Archives April 18, 2000 After many long hours of preparation, we finally got the very important photo shoot completed this last Sunday. Thanks to the many hours donated by Dirk Sundbaum, Glenn Amy, Ron Norman, Glen Hopkins, Zig, Rod, Cameron, Bob and Larry Cruz (owner of Wings West). Keith and I were just putting the last piece of aluminum skin on the tail fin when the magazine team walked in the hanger. The photographers and the journalist are from Germany's Playboy magazine. With them was a F-104 test pilot named Wolfgang. He is a captain with American Airlines and flys 104's regularly. He was in the German Airforce for 12 years and still holds the record for acceleration to mach 2.3. We learned quite a deal about the F-104 systems. The photo shoot took 4 hours and 1500 frames. Now I know why models get paid so much money. It's allot like work. Holding a specific position and continuing to smile for half an hour straight is very tiring. The teammembers on hand for the shoot were Glen Hopkins, Zig, Ron Norman, Steve Green, Keith and of course me. We adjourned for a cold one after the day of shooting was done. Larry Cruz, owner of Wings West donated the use of his hanger for the several weeks prior to the this event and will continue to allow space in his hanger until a later date. Larry's business specializes in aircraft governor service. He is the one who reworkes the governors for all the unlimited air race teams at the Reno air races. As soon as we get some local film developed we will scan it onto the web site so you can see what the North American Eagle 104 looks like in it's present form........ Tomorrow....Roll out photos of North American Eagle World Land Speed Record Challenger. Photos will be posted by 7:00 PM PDT. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
