NAE™ Project: Update Archive June 26, 2001 Ladies and Gentlemen: The extensive amount of rework going into the restoration the North American Eagle is evident in the photo to the right. Here Russell Garlow is working on the vertical stabilizer. It was necessary to completely rebuild the original structure. Thanks to sponsors like Aero Engineering the vehicle will be good as new when test runs commence. Ed Shadle, Jon Higley, Glenn Amy and Russ continue to use up all their weekend spare time and after work hours to laboriously assemble North Americas hope of breaking the world land speed record. In other news the NAE is the feature article in this months June Issue of Goodguys Magazine. The article written by Mary West is highlighted in the magazines "Flat Out" section. Mary writes about NAE project manager Ed Shadle's street rods and talks about the wheel driven vs. thrust driven cars. Ed campaigns two wheel driven classes in land speed racing: Laksters and roadsters. Ed will be making his annual trek to Bonneville this August to drive his 270 MPH Lakester. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
