TeamNAE™: Meet Jon Higley - Crew Lead, Webmaster, Chief Information Officer & Educational Affairs Director (Sponsor) Jon Higley has 30 years of teaching experience at the elementary/secondary level in a school district south of Seattle. Currently, he's teaching an 9th grade Algebra/Science class. Prior to entering the teaching profession, Jon was a B-52 G & H model bomber crew chief and aircraft mechanic in the Air Force during the end of the Vietnam war (early '70s). Jon helps out the team as an assistant to other mechanics, is the team's educational consultant in the web site's "classroom", and is the webmaster for this site. Be sure to go to the classroom and ask questions. He'll get back to you as soon as possible. He loves sharing his enthusiasm for the project with anyone interested in learning about it. Jon's position as Crew Lead on the team is one of "point man" for the entire pre-run prep crew. During runs, all support crew that deal directly with the car's preparation report to him with their completed checklists. He then reports to both the crew chief, Bill Eckberg, and the driver, Ed Shadle as to the status of each run's preparation and launch, as well as the readiness of the course marshals and recovery crew. This is familiar territory for Jon as a trained pre-flight/post-flight inspector, and later in his military service as a crew chief. Also, Jon has begun a Project Journal to record his thoughts about where this project has come from and the weekly/monthly events which will follow, now that test runs are about to commence. Jon is very interested in the education of youth. Recently he redesigned the entire web site. He is currently developing pages about the Math, Science & Technology that will be used on the vehicle. Jon is also the coordinator for the project's educational program. He maintains three other web sites you may want to visit as well. If you have any questions about land speed racing, or about the project, contact Jon Higley. Contact: Jon Higley We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
