Omar started his career in 1952 in the Naval reserves working on PBYs at Sand Point Naval Air Station.  The following year he joined the Air Force until he retired in 1984.  Early in his career he was a crew chief on C-45, C-46 and C-47 cargo transport aircraft.

c123

In Vietnam he was a flight mechanic on C-123s dropping cargo and troops throughout Southeast Asia.

c-141

He spent his last 17 years in the service at McChord Air Force Base as a flight engineer on C-141s.

Like many of the North American Eagle™ team, Omar holds a private pilots license.  He has held that rating for over 20 years and owns a Cessna 150.  He also has an A& P License, so he can keep his costs down by doing a lot of his own maintenance.

Besides flying, Omar races trucks in the Northwest Pro 4 Truck series.  He is an avid sportsman and likes to hunt deer and elk.

When he retired from the Air Force he stayed in aviation as a mechanic for Alaska Airlines.  In his spare time he works in the McChord Air Force Base Museum.

Omar says he is “Not here for the glory.  It’s a worthwhile project to bring the record back to North  America.”

With talented people like Omar, there is no way we can’t bring the world land speed record back to North America.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
