It was a sunny 63 degree day in Parkland Washington as many of us met to build the North American Eagle™ Team members Lars Pedersen, Steve Rima, Steve Wallace, Corey Dawson, Dave Selby, Chris Greene, Jason Mitchell, Brittney Freer, Jackson Kinney, Omar Chramosta, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle. Also stopping by was David Fiola and Dan Johnson. Special thanks to Brittney, our intern who took most of the photos you see here today.
Today’s special guest was Skylynn Mitchell who just got her driving learner’s permit. Cousin Les put her in Ed’s E Gas Lakester and took a spin around the block. Other than parking, she did quite well for a novice.
Another student driver coming by the hanger this week was Channelle Johnson, Dan’s wife. The cost of driver training is $100 or a roller coaster photo. Channelle is our 1123rd roller coaster participant!
Today’s long distance award team member and player of the week is Lars Pedersen. During the past couple of weeks Lars has been building equipment to ease in the installation of the 500+ lbs front wheel steering box. Today’s installation was one of the easiest and safest. For the past month and a half you have been reading about our rebuilding of the front steering and suspension box and today’s installation was one of the best.
The Black Rock, El Mirage, Edwards AFB and Alvord dust finally took its toll on our M32-60B American Aviation Start Cart. During a test session today, the dirt caused a short in one of the cannon plugs going into the voltage regulator. The resulting short was something out of a July 4th celebration. Dave Selby and Corey Dawson were at the controls and promptly shut it down. The two spent the next hour trouble shooting and repairing the short. That is why we test; so that these things don’t happen a thousand miles down the road.
Steve Rima and Steve Wallace were in today to complete finishing touches on the new PCB Piezotronics strain gauges. Next week they will calibrate the units after the car is lowered down and resting on all five wheels.
