Signs By Tomorrow Houston South, Dassault Systèmes and Lenovo: Proud Sponsors of the North American Eagle™
Yikes! The winter solstice descended upon us with the first day of that. . .winter. . . and the shortest day of the year to boot. We had to hurry! Ed Shadle, Steve Rima,Von Armstrong, Les Holm, Jason Mitchell, Keith Zanghi, Brandyn Bayes, John Drury, Larry Martinson, Omar Chramosta, and John Winchester celebrated in the cold North American Eagle™ hangers.
Also showing up in a rainy mist; Ed’s old high school friend, Tom Jensen. He is a retired Master Machinist and came to lend some of his expertise; along with Eric McClain, noted squirell hunter hailing from West Virginia. He is also a welder, truck mechanic, and hangs out with his car at Bonneville Salt Flats during speed week. Tom is now signed on as our newest team member helping with emergent machining operations.
Team NAE has long needed a better method of getting the car jacked up onto a mobilizer, turned around, and headed back to the start line after speed runs. A ten ton jack is slow and heavy on a lake bed. After a good deal of head scratching and looking for a better method, we are now on the right track, using a hydraulic jacking cylindar installed in the fuselage. Many thanks to Chuck Schwartz and the folks at Hydraulic Installation and Repair, located in Pacific, Wa. They have provided us with just the system that meets our needs.
Ed and Keith and Les are all over the design and fabrication work that will support the new unit installed in an unused fuselage compartment. Today’s crew were busy cutting, welding, and making things happen for the new unit.
John Winchester dropped by to get together with Ed on things related to parachute deployment and new protective covers he is making for the canards.
With the running wheels and rear axle off and up in Canada for inspection and repair, the mid wheel compartment was being addressed while it was accessible.
Ed and Keith briefed the team on the upcoming trip and display of our big red jet car at the Grand National Autp show in Pomona, California next month. Jessi Combs will be there to share her experiences of her very fast rides in Alvord Desert last month.
|Chris’s Christmas Ride!|
Team NAE sends out best wishes for a Merry Christmas, Happy holidays, and the best in 2014.
