It has been a busy week leading up to this Saturday’s work party. Checking in today: Ed Shadle, Lars Pedersen, Steve Rima, Brandyn Bayes, Chris Banks, Von Armstrong, Andrew Luck, Keith Zanghi, Les Holm, Rich Pengelley, Omar Chramosta, Britney Freer and friend, Mitchell Justesen. Mitchell was subject to Keith’s photo op session, doing the roller coaster wave from the cockpit.
Lots of visitors came by. Keith’s dad, Russ Zanghi, back for more burnt hot dogs and maintaining his seasoned senior status; Jason Mitchell brought in some family members for a tour of the car; Ed gave directions to his cousin, Robin Martinson, who found her way to the shop from the eastern boonies and ended up in the driver’s seat for pictures. Rounding out visitor’s day was Chris Kirk, Andrew’s dad and busy general contractor. Also stopping by was the son of one of Keith’s coworkers, Cameron Retzlaf and his girlfriend.
Ed, Lars, and Omar spent more than a full day during the week looking for the problem in the overhead carriage in the trailer, traveling hither and yon to various vendors seeking advice. It is an old and complicated system, and one with no schematics to follow. But loaded with good will and helpful hints they returned to the trailer and took on the hydraulics. Somewhere along the line a stuck valve became unstuck and things became better. There is work to be done still, but the upside is that all of the electrical circuits and hydraulic line tracing has led to some parts improvements, and to Ed and Lars drawing up some hard copy schematics that will make future issues much easier to address.
Britney and friend Mitchell donned some coveralls and took to the trailer for a much needed cleanup. Keith led the way and did his usual great job of making work a learning experience for our interns. They learn how things work and how to use the needed tools; and along the way they are learning about the overall project.
Andrew and Rich worked on some ground support equipment, which included painting the Pedersen made jacking block for the heavy belly pan.

The week also welcomed a highly professional team of videographers touring the shop and interviewing key team members about the car and its operations. Brandyn has been hard at work tying all of our existing laptops and work stations together, utilizing software and programs that allow a user friendly and effective information system.
