NAE™ Project:
Speed Week '06

August 15, 2006

Reported by Rachel Shadle

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Waiting, and after first run Sunday the 13th.

Some of the Shadle group just got back from the Salt Flats in Bonneville, Utah. The salt is great this year. There have been allot of great runs so far. They had the 1927 Ford Roadster with a 301” Chevy V-8 out this year. They are still trying to work out some bugs. Ed Shadle will update us on the runs when he returns. This year there were quite a few of the Shadle group on the salt. Ed Shadle, Cam Shadle, Keith Zanghi and Ed Drumheller II are there for the whole meet. Elaine Shadle, Rachel Shadle, Bob Morris, Chris Fraley and Jim Lucas were all on hand until Monday.  We had a large crew the first few days.

Steve Green and his crew were out there with their Lakester 355 Chevy 700h and a Chevy Vega 2003 432” Chevy V-8. They have not been able to run by the time the others had left. I am sure we will get you their info after speed week also.

Andy Green (driver of the Thrust SSC) was out there with a brand new car this year; the JCB Diesel Max. We went to the hangar where they have the car for Bonneville and boy, do they have a great crew. It was great fun to see their group in action. Thanks for the invite Andy. Here is a link to there new web site.

So far, as of the 15th the fastest car of the meet was Burkland’s 411 Blown Fuel Streamliner. Their speed so far is 411mph. How funny is that it matches their car number. They have the record in they class at 417.020.

The landracing web site has up to date info on the goings on, on the salt.  You can get info there.
