Our project's goal - break the existing record of 763 mph (1,228 km/h) by reaching 800 mph (1,287 km/h)! |

We invite you to...
NAE™ Project Research: Helping to stop the North American Eagle™ will be a unique braking system under development by Lev X® of Port Angeles, Washington. The anti-skid, no contact brakes could someday revolutionize the aircraft, rail and automotive industry. Lev X ®, and their parent company Magna-Force ® are leading the world with the commercial applications of rare earth Neodymium Iron Boron Magnets (NdFeB) in the transportation industry.
Original test brakes were tested with F-15 aircraft wheels and tires to speed of 350 mph Once our high speed wheels were installed, greater speed tests were conducted. In June 2008, the 14,000 lb North American Eagle™ was stopped from a speed of 400 mph using nothing more than the Lev X magnetic braking. Temperatures are monitored using two infrared temperature gauges located in the cockpit. So far testing has yield temperatures within design parameters. At 800 mph the Lev X Magnetic Brakes generate 4,700 brake horsepower. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
