NAE™ Project: Update

September 20, 2008

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Today was a weather turn around from our recent blue sunny skies and warm temperatures to a cloudy and rainy Pacific Northwest day at the hangar. That's what keeps Washington green folks. It's not called the Evergreen State for nothin'.

Present and accounted for were Keith Zanghi, Von Armstrong, John Winchester and Omar Chramosta. Ed Shadle was at home recuperating from surgery and supervising from afar. Tim Finley was busy in his machine shop tooling up needed parts for the Eagle. And, as always, webmaster Jon Higley is devoting several hours of his weekend keeping our web site updated and looking good.

Kyle and Von removed the bolts from the windshield canopy and it was moved aside in order to gain access for work on the steering system. Omar and Keith worked on the on board steering linkage and hydraulic lines. The front wheel steering box itself has been removed for further work, including some modifications that were done last week by Keith and Sean Rondestvedt. John Winchester spent time today degreasing and cleaning up the box's interior.

A guest dropped by this afternoon and had his first close up look at the next world landspeed record holder. Danny Beckman is an FAA certified Master Parachute Rigger and a supervisor of the Aerial Delivery Section at Ft. Lewis. He and his team members make things slow down with parachutes full of air deployed from above. Think cargo drops... and people who jump from perfectly good aircraft. They also keep the chutes and equipment in good repair. Danny is a friend of John Winchester, our
team parachute man.

We invited Danny to come back anytime and to bring his team members with him. The "beast" will be looking a whole lot better when it is back together and on display the first weekend of November at the big Tacoma Dome show. Check that information out on our link... come and see us at the Tacoma Dome... and stay tuned for progress updates.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
