NAE™ Project: Update

October 18, 2008

Ladies & Gentlemen:

With the fall weather getting "crisper" and the leaves turning colors, the team got more work done on the car. Those present at today's work party were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Steve Wallace, Tim Finley, Rich & Tom Pengelley (Tom had his friend John along with him today), and Gino Sanfillipo.

Omar Chramosta had to undergo heart surgery last week and is recovering after successfully coming through it. Our thoughts are with him and his family as they go through this difficult time.

Ed & Keith work on the hydraulic gauges
Keith bleeds air from the lines

Early on Ed was getting the hydraulic lines connected to the reworked steering suspension system. Then, with Keith underneath turning valves, Ed turned on the pumps and moved the stick back and forth to bleed out the air from the lines.

Measurements were also taken to both determine that the front steering wheel was centered and to what amount it turns left & right of center. The metal front wheel was then removed and the rubber aircraft tire was installed.

Steve working on presentation

While Tim worked on checking the cockpit radio mike with Ed, Steve was busy on the laptop fine tuning the PowerPoint presentation for next week's presentation at the Microsoft 2008 Innovation Management Forum in Redmond, WA.

Gino grilled up hamburgers for the team while Rich & Jon worked on various small tasks that needed taking care of.

Near the end of the day the rear suspension was disassembled and the travel axle was installed for the loading which will take place next weekend.

Later that same evening, Russell Garlow and Jon Higley presented to a group of Civil Air Patrol Cadets at Camp Murray nearby about the NAE™ project as part of our ongoing educational outreach.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
