NAE™ Project: Update November 21, 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen: It was car wash day in Spanaway, WA as a large group of team members assembled to do a thorough cleaning of the North American Eagle™. John Drury, Rich Pengelley, Von Armstrong, Steve and Libby Wallace, Dave Selby, Chris Greene, Eric Helpenstell, Sean Rondestvedt, Russ Garlow, Keith Zanghi, and Ed Shadle battled the cold and threatening skies and removed the corrosive dirt playa left over from the Black Rock Desert test session. Left as is just about everything would start corroding and turn to rust. Using a high pressure washer, team members took turns operating the nozzle. In the end everyone was ready for a warm fire and cocoa.
Click the photo above for short video from today Following a complete wash down of the exterior surface and all wheel well openings, Ed washed out the engine. Afterwards we started the 42,500 hp S&S Turbine Services turbojet to dry things out. Von took some video with his brand new camera. You can watch it by clicking on the photo above.
Special thanks to Small & Sons Oil Distribution who delivered fuel for the car. It is a lot easier than driving the 56 foot long Eagle through the gas station pumps!
