NAE™ Project: Update May 17, 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen: Yesterday was an exciting day at the hanger as Tim Finley, Rich and Tom Pengelley, John Winchester, Eric Helpenstell, Bill Eckberg, Sean Rondestvedt, Steve Wallace, Bernard McVay, Von Armstrong, Chris Greene, Omar Chramosta, John Zambrano, Jon Higley, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle spent this past weekend working on the North American Eagle™. Special guests this week was NAE™ team member John Zambrano's kids. Bernard was busy this weekend finishing up two projects. He built a new stronger front wheel dolly used to move the car around in the hanger. In addition he installed a rear axle truss assembly that will stiffen up the lateral movement of the Eagle. Steve worked on the cooling system for the onboard computer. A lot of effort was put into working on the antenna system for our Tropos® Networks Ethernet System. Steve built a wooden mockup of a proposed system. The project will need three antennas for our upcoming Black Rock Test. Located every 2.5 miles, the 20 foot antennas will hold a Tropos Ethernet Network that will receive data being transmitted from the Eagle during each run. An onboard Tropos Ethernet Transmitter is located in the nose of the 56 foot long Eagle. Sean and Von worked on the Lev X Tractor in preparation for this summer's test session. On the newsstands is an article on the project in the June 2009 issue of FLY RC magazine. The very popular magazine can be found at most grocery stores and all book stores.
