NAE™ Project: Update May 4, 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen: With lots of television offers coming in from the previous week's media blitz, Tim Finley, Omar Chramosta, Gino Sanfilippo, Rich Pengelley, Steve Wallace, Von Armstrong, Rob Martinson, Chris Greene, Sean Rondestvedt, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle spent this past weekend working on the North American Eagle™. Rich, Keith, Von and Tim spent the entire day working on the lower forward wheel well covers started last week by Russ Garlow and Ed. First order business was to finish the template used to locate all the Dzus 1/4 turn fasteners and trim to fit the template to the wheel well opening. After that, the guys transferred the pattern to the final skin. By the end of the day the panel fit perfectly! Sean and Chris removed the hydraulics bay cover and checked and added oil to the hydraulic system. The system was functional tested by Chris and Ed. Special guest this week was Chris' American History teacher, Mr. Bruce Adler. He came by the hanger with his friend Rudy Wright. Ed and Keith will be joining Chris this coming Thursday at Bethel Junior High School for a special project Chris is doing on the Eagle. Ironically, Mr Adler was teacher to Ed's son Cam.....many moons ago! On the newsstands is an article on the project in the June 2009 issue of FLY RC magazine. The very popular magazine can be found at most grocery stores and all book stores.
This past week coverage of the Eagle went as far as Melbourne Australia with a story in the Herald Sun Newspaper on Sunday April 26th. That same day, the Eagle made headlines in the San Francisco Chronicle with a reprint of the Guy Gugliotta's story that appeared in the New York Times. The San Francisco Chronicle is Northern California's largest newspaper. On Monday April 27th, the Eagle appeared in the technology section in the Santa Catarina Newspaper. Santa Catarina is a state in Southern Brazil.
