NAE™ Project:
Update Archive

March 21, 1997

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Well, what's new with the North American Eagle™ (NAE)? After completing our winter series of shows we have now put the NAE in the shop for some much needed updates. The fuel controller is being worked on. A few minor modifications are being done in preparation for our first test runs on the dirt lakebed in the Mojave Desert. As it looks right now, we should be able to begin our first test runs in early May right after the Muroc Reunion. All of the dirt racers and some Bonneville racers are looking forward to the 2nd annual race on the dry lake at Edwards AFB. This year it will be held on the South side of the base, you enter from the Lancaster side. Anyone interested in viewing a piece of real racing nastolgia call the Southern California Timing Association at (805) 526-1805. We will be running our test runs either on that track or the Shuttle Runway. The Air Force is giving us our choice.

Steve Green of Eagle Machine in Abbotsford, Canada is one of the inspectors at the the races and normally does the motorcycle inspections. If we can get the NAE scheduled for the weekend following the Reunion, Steve will get to watch his newly completed aluminum hubs and wheels run down the track for the first time.

We may have some cameras and a crew on site from the Canadian Discovery Channel. The producer, Craig Colby is working on the details. Also, Richard Pickering from Toronto, the gentleman who made the arrangements for our appearance at the Canadian International AutoShow will be there as well.

One of my favorite charities I work with is the Greyhound Pets of America. Our mission is to find loving homes for retired Greyhound racing dogs. Anyone of you racers should have some sympathy for old retired racers, whether they are dogs or humans. If you're interested in adopting a racing Greyhound call (800) 366-1472. I called that number one time a few years back and now I own 5 Greyhounds and I'm on the board of directors of our local chapter. Fast Dogs and Fast Cars, I have a weakness for both!

Edward J. Shadle, Project Manager.
