NAE™ Project: Update June 15, 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen: It was a very busy and back breaking day as the team finished up a few tasks and began loading our number # 2 Eagle Machine, Inc support trailer. Tim Finley, John Winchester, Chris Greene, Tom Pengelley, Omar Chramosta, Larry Martinson, Bill Eckberg, John Drury, Jon Higley, Steve Wallace, Bernard McVay, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle were all on hand getting ready for this summer's test session at the Black Rock Desert. The town of Gerlach, Nevada put out the welcome mat as our advance team of Steve Green and Ed drove to the Black Rock Desert to survey the test site. They were joined by Chris Petrell who will be on site helping the team during our upcoming summer test session. The playa will be in excellent shape for our test runs. This week we installed event sponsor decals supplied by Lisa and Thor Holder from Signs by Tomorrow in Houston. The team loaded up some fuel from Small & Sons Oil Distribution into the trailer. We also loaded the three AFFF Foam Fire Systems from Western Fire and Safety, McVay's Mobile Welding, and Northwest Sports Divers. Special guest this week was Troy Ashby from Geomagic. Geomagic Studio 11 is the software we use to turn the point clouds obtained from digitizing the Eagle into surfaces. This is an integral part of our Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis. On Television We continue to talk with a half dozen television production companies interested in doing a documentary on our upcoming test session.
The North American Eagle™ has been featured in over eight television shows and every major television network. Recently NBC / Universal filmed the team for a possible pilot. On the Newsstands
This week the project made the front cover of Desktop Engineering magazine. You can read the David Cohn story describing the engineering behind the Eagle, and some of the people who make it happen. On the newsstands is an article on the project in the June 2009 issue of FLY RC magazine. The very popular magazine can be found at most grocery stores and all book stores. We know a lot of our fans are on facebook. Now the North American Eagle™ is on facebook! In fact many of our team members are also! It is just another great way to let everyone know what we're up to. We have many of our latest Power-On systems test videos up on the site. Just type in North American Eagle and you will find us! Tell your friends! It's fun! We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site. Interested in helping us make history and bring the record back to North America? Here's how!
