NAE™ Project:
Update Archive

June 12, 2000

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Team working on NAE

The team has been very busy the past few weeks. Work continues on the replacement of skin panels. Dirk is doing an excellent job on a fairly complicated section on the left hand side of the driver compartment. A large portion was heavily damaged by the previous owner. Dirk is adding strength to the area by fabricating many of the pieces out of stainless and A-36 steel.  Ed had the exterior skin panel formed on an english roll.   The 20 x 40 inch piece has compound curves both in the chordwise and spanwise direction.  It should be ready to rivet next weekend.

Steve Green from Eagle Machine has been working on the front and rear suspension. He took many measurements and will head back to Abbotsford and begin manufacturing the pieces. In about a month, the NAE™ will be trailered to Canada for installation.

The team will be moving back to Beechwest Aviation Flying Club at Spanaway Airport in the next couple of weeks. The North American Eagle™ Team would like to thank the very gracious Larry Cruz at Wings West for the use of his shop. Larry gave us complete use of the shop during the cold winter months. Much of our latest progress can be attributed to the Wings West contribution.

The team received an email from journalist Jorgen Koenig from Bavaria.  The Starfighter and North American Eagle™ story will be published in the September German Issue of Playboy Magazine. We will try to publish reprints of an english version.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
